Ellie's Treasures Tutorials - Adding an animation, picture or webpage to your desktop

This tutorial will print out on standard 8½" X 11" paper

Calendar is a Blinkie Calendar so the lines around the border are animated.
The arrow isn't in the wallpaper. LOL I added it to indicate where the animation is.

I've been asked so many times how to put my Blinkie Calendars
on the desktop and I didn't think there was a way, but I just figured one out!
Here's how you do it. This will work to add animations, pictures, even web pages to your desktop.
And you can add more than one at a time.
So you can have a calendar and maybe a cute animated figure or doll, etc there as well.
Go to my Blinkie Calendar page (http://www.ellies-treasures.com/blinkie-calendars/blinkie-calendars.html)
and pick a calendar, then save it to your hard drive.
Of course you can use whatever picture you choose. Remember where you saved the picture.
(I suggest to not use a picture still on the web or you may affect that site's bandwidth
and cause them to pay extra for their web service or shut it down completely.)
Right click on your desktop, click on properties
In the next window, click on Desktop, then click on Customize Desktop
Click on the "Web" tab
Click on New
In the next window, click on Browse at the bottom of the window

A window will open to browse to the picture you have saved to your hard drive,
or an html file, or you can enter a web page address from the Internet.
For our purposes, I am adding an animation to the desktop (one of my animated Blinkie Calendars)
I'm pretty sure if you link to a picture still on the web, it will affect their bandwidth
so it's best to save the picture to your hard drive and use it from there.
Double click on the picture you want to add or highlight it and click on open.
You'll see the location of your file in the Location window.
Now click on ok
As you see, your animation is now in the list to pick from.
Make sure the box is checked and click on ok, then ok again in the next window.
If you have more than one file there and want to add them all to your desktop,
just check the boxes of the ones you want to add.
So if you have a number of things you want to switch around on the desktop,
just add them all here in advance, and if you want to change the picture on your desktop,
just uncheck the box of the one or ones you have on the desktop and check the box of the one or ones you want to switch to.
Click on your animation, you'll see a pale frame surrounding the picture.
Now hover over the picture. This title bar will appear at the top.
To move it, just left click on the title bar and drag, and you can drag it to where you want it.
It's still transparent and you can see the wallpaper through the transparent parts.
I hope you enjoy the results! I was so glad to figure this out, now I can put my animated calendars on my desktop.

but do not copy and send the entire tutorial to anyone or any group.
You may also save it to your hard drive (go to File>Save As, and save as an mht file-
this will save the pictures with the page in one single file and will open in a browser)
or print it out for your own personal use.
