For this tutorial you
will need: Jasc or Corel Paint Shop Pro. I've done this tutorial in PSP 9 and Duchessa has done it in PSP X2. I believe it can be done in most versions. You may have to look around for the commands but it's likely they are there. Filters and materials needed Xero>Porcelain, available free (it's in set 1) Supplies in zip file here: http://www.ellies-treasures.com/files/tuts/love-blend-supplies-psp.zip Supplies in zip file here for older versions if the other ones don't work for you. These are in psd format. http://www.ellies-treasures.com/files/tuts/love-blend-supplies-psd.zip The zip files include everything you need to make the tag. Font: Turbayne Running Hand (included in supplies) *********** Credits: Tubes by LaManouche, Chrismist, and Toobs by Patty (no address found for her), Bling by NMs Tutorials, Brush by PSPAgi |
| Preparation Before opening PSP, double click the font to open it and leave it open so it will be available for use in PSP (or install the font) Put the plugins into your plugin folder. Put the brush in your brush folder (import it if it doesn't show up-Edit>Import>Custom Brush) Now open PSP. Open your tubes in PSP (except for Nm_Falling_hearts_Anim-the bling), duplicate them (shift-D) and close the originals None of the tubes are used more than once, so each can be closed after use. |

See tips below step 10 on resizing, watermarking and saving. |
| (Optional) Step 9-add name if wanted If you want to add your name, new raster layer. Using your text tool, add your name and place where you like it. I used Turbayne Running Hand, size 72, stroke 0. I left the color palette as it was so the bg color (#97544b) was the one used for the text. I added a drop shadow of 1-1-100-2-black ![]() New raster layer, add watermark Merge visible. Edit>Copy (if you are going to add the bling) You can save as a jpg now or you can go on to step 10 and add an animated bling. If you want to resize, make sure you do it now before adding the bling. See tips below step 10 on resizing, watermarking and saving. |
| Step 10-Animation Open Animation Shop Paste your tag as a new animation (or go to File>Open) Also open the animation - Nm_Falling_hearts. It contains 24 frames Return to your tag and duplicate so you have the same number of frames as the bling (24 in this case). On first frame of tag, Control-A to select all. You will see a blue frame around it, Control-C to copy, Control-Shift-L to duplicate the frame after the first frame, do this a few times till you get 12, now Control-A to select all frames, Control-C to copy and Control-Shift-L to paste all 12 frames at once, you will now have 24. (If the bling you are using has a black or colored frame for the first one, delete it, it's not needed). Return to the bling, making sure you're in first frame, Select all (Control-A) Edit>Copy (Control-C) Return to your image Making sure you're in the first frame, select all Edit>Paste into selected frame (Control-E). You will see a small piece of the bling, the first part of it from the first frame, it will not paste down till you hit the left mouse button, so first move to the upper left as shown in my tag, place it to the downward V of the heart is right at the top left corner of the frame, then click the left mouse button to paste it down. If you've resized the tag, you'll either need to resize the bling (Animation>Resize) or you'll need to move it over further to the right to make sure it will fit on the tag. You will notice that it's in a different spot in the example tag just below, that's 450 pixels wide, and in the full size tag at the top of the tutorial, that's 600 pixels wide. Now go to View>Animation to see if you like the effect. If not, go to Edit>Undo paste to undo it and try again. ![]() Save as a gif, using default settings This will have a large file size due to the animation having 24 frames, the larger the number of frames you have, the larger the file size. |
|
Tips for Resizing To resize, make sure, to retain the texture and the clarity, resize at 90% bicubic and repeat till you get close to the size you want. At that point you can resize by pixels as usual. You will find this makes a big difference in your final result. If you resize, use the unsharp mask or Brightness/Contrast to sharpen it a bit. Adjust>Sharpness>Unsharp mask at Radius 1, strength 60, clipping 4 or Adjust>Brightness and Contrast set to Brightness of 5-contrast of 15. You can resize either in PSP or in Animation Shop. If the size difference is going to be quite a lot, I prefer to resize in PSP before animating, so I can use Unsharp Mask to brighten and sharpen after resizing. |
|
Tips for watermarking and saving Watermark: Layers>New raster layer. Add your water mark on this new layer. Layers>Merge>Merge all (flatten) Save: File>Export>Jpeg optimizer - compression of 20. If you've animated, you'll need to save it as a gif. I usually just use the defaults in Animation Shop. |
