My Webpage Design Information
*Note 1: I've seen this page being circulated around the groups many, many times.
While I don't mind sharing and I don't mind if you share it, I sure would appreciate it
if you linked back to this page so others can see the rest of the tutorials (which they may need)
and to credit me for the work I did in assembling the information. Thanks a bunch!

*Note 2: If you ever have any problem locating a font you need, please contact me and I'll see what I can do for you.

During a typical installation, Windows installs the following TrueType fonts
into the Windows Fonts folder (see the charts below). Because Windows and other
applications may require one or more of these fonts to run and to display
dialog boxes correctly, I recommend that you do not remove them from the Fonts folder.
Some of them may be safe to delete as far as Windows goes, but don't forget that other programs
may be expecting them to be installed, knowing they are standard fonts for Windows,
and there may be problems running that program if that particular font is not installed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Windows also installs several hidden font files (e.g., Dosapp.fon and Vgafix.fon), which do not appear in the Fonts
Control Panel, but may appear in font management utilities, such as Adobe Type Manager.
Windows requires these hidden font files to run; do not remove them from the Fonts folder.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The fonts marked with an asterisk * are essential to Windows function so never delete these.
To be safe, I would never take any of the fonts in these charts out of your Windows Font Folder.
These aren't a lot of fonts and better to be safe than sorry.

What TrueType fonts are installed by Windows?

That depends on what version of Windows you are running.
Consult the chart below. These are correct to the best of my knowledge.

*NOTE: I did have zip files of all of the essential fonts for windows available but a font vendor
(who had nothing to do with Microsoft except for selling their fonts) threatened to make trouble for me with Microsoft.
As far as I was concerned, I was just offering a service to those who already had
paid for these fonts when they bought windows and had accidentally deleted them.
I still feel it was a service that didn't hurt anyone and that I was doing nothing wrong,
but I don't want any trouble so I removed them. Sorry about that.
If you lose any of your essential fonts and can't get your computer or some programs
to work properly, you will need to reinstall windows.

What can you do if you've already deleted some of the required fonts?
Don't panic. You can easily restore essential fonts by reinstalling Windows (with the exception of Windows XP).
Running Windows Setup over your current installation will not harm your computer or installed software
and it will restore any missing files, including fonts. We have always done this with all versions of Windows with
no problems, but we have had the personal experience of reinstalling Windows XP over top of the current
Windows XP to resolve a problem and it replaced the registry so we had to reinstall our programs.
Other people we know have installed Windows XP over top of Windows XP and
haven't run into this problem so this is just a heads up so you can be prepared.

Webpage Design Information
The lace webpage background was made in PhotoImpact with a tutorial by Deb DeHaven
Sadly, she passed away and her website is not online anymore.
I use
PhotoImpact to make all of my headers and font previews due to the amazing
3D text it has and the wonderful presets available free online

The font I used in the lace headers is BrockScript
.
Most of the presets I use are either the ones that come with PhotoImpact, usually the Gel ones,
or from Deb's PI Tutorials and More (see below) or
Carol Oyl's
site

This is the address to Deb's Tutorials and More old pages

http://www.fortunecity.com/skyscraper/millenit/1716/pitutorials/objects/presets/presets1.html
I can't find any links to her new pages but the presets are still on this page for download.
For more sites to find PI Presets, take a look at my
Great Beginnings page.
