I am assuming you know the basics of Paint Shop Pro and where
the tools can be located. |
Here are some arrows and bars you can drag and drop
where you need to mark or underline where you are. .
Just left click and drag to where you want it then let go.
They will stay where you put them until you close your browser.

 |
1. Open your tubes. I like to open them all at the beginning, duplicate them, close the originals. Close each tube after it's been used unless told to keep them open. The 2 baby tubes are used twice.
Save a copy of my tag at the top of the page and keep it open for referring to while working. |
| 2. Open a canvas of 600 x 450 |
3. Copy (control-c) 1199 baby and paste as a new layer (Control-L) into working canvas.
(Don't close tube yet, you'll need it again).
Image>Resize 2x with 80% bicubic - resize all layers not checked

Move it into the bottom left corner
 |
4. Copy 1200 baby and paste as a new layer (Control-L). (Don't close tube yet)
Image>Resize 2x with 80% bicubic - resize all layers not checked

Move it into the bottom right corner

Merge visible |
5. Effects>Flaming Pear>Solidify A

Adjust>Gaussian blur>35
 |
6. Effects>Filters Unlimited 2>Paper Textures>Canvas fine - 50/87

 |
7. Copy once again 1200 baby and paste as a new layer (you can close tube now)
Image>Resize 90% bicubic 1x, resize, all layers unchecked
Move it to the right corner, as shown
Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow 0-0-45-20 color #7a5c5c 9 (dark smoky rose)

 |
8. Copy 1199 baby and paste as a new layer (you can close tube now)
Move it to the left corner, as shown
Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow 0-0-45-20 color #7a5c5c

Merge visible |
9. Adjust>Photofix>Digital Camera Noise Removal at default

Shift D to duplicate image.
Minimize duplicate for later use. |
10. Back to your original working canvas
Color palette for the borders

Image>Add borders: 1 pixel #da8ea5 (dark pink)

Image>Add borders: 3 pixels #f1e8ed (light pink)
Image>Add borders: 1 pixel #da8ea5

Image>Resize 80% bicubic, resize all layers checked
Minimize till needed |
11. Open your copied image
Adjust>Blur>Gaussian Blur at 45
Effect>Simple>4 way average

Shift-D to duplicate and we'll call this duplicate simple
Minimize duplicate till needed again. |
12. We'll now continue on the remaining open canvas (the blur and simple effect original one)
Effects>Filters Unlimited 2>Paper Textures>Canvas fine - 50/87 (as before)

New raster layer, control-A to select all |
13. Activate tube MAS-DiamondLijnenLicht (diamond lines light),
copy and paste into selection (you can close tube now)
Deselect
Adjust>Sharpness>Sharpen
Put the blend mode on luminance

Drop shadow: 1-1-45-1 color #7a5c5c
 |
14. Copy the tube "ruitfun" and paste as new layer
Put the blend mode on overlay and the opacity on 49
 |
15. Activate the original tag with the babies and paste as new layer
Drop shadow: 0-0-60-12 color #7a5c5c
 |
16. Merge layers-add borders as before
Image>Add borders: 1 pixel #da8ea5
Image>Add borders: 3 pixels #f1e8ed
Image>Add borders: 1 pixel #da8ea5

Minimize |
17. Open a new canvas 700 x 550
Control-A to select all
Copy the image called Simple which you have minimized previously and paste into selection
Deselect. |
18. Activate your babies tag, copy and paste as new layer

Copy the tube "stikselfun" (stitches) and paste as new layer (you can close tube now)
It should fall right at the edges of the textured canvas as shown. If not, move it there.
Drop Shadow: 0-0-60-12 color #7a5c5c

Layer Palette, right click, merge down (this only merges the stitches down) |
19. If you want to reduce the tag, now is the time to do it.
Image>Resize, all layers checked, use smart size as the compression method
If you are getting a funny texture on the canvas and you want it smaller,
there is a different method I devised that makes the texture of the canvas stay fairly fine.
Using your zoom tool, reduce the size to about the size you would like your tag to be.
Then click on Alt-Print Screen. Now click on Control-V, this pastes a screenshot of your screen into PSP. Now with your selection tool, crop around the picture and go to Image>Crop to selection.
You'll now have a smaller picture without the texture going all funny.
You can do this more than once to get it down even smaller.
I often use this method for my screenshots when I need a finer, more accurate, texture |
20. Activate raster 1
Effects>Pentacom>Colordot upper slider on 50

Merge all
Select all
Selections>Modify>Contract 5 pixels

Selections>Invert
Adjust>Blur>Gaussian blur 45

Effect>3D Effect>Inner Bevel, settings:
Bevel 2-1-6-3-0-0-315-50-30-white

 |
21. Activate the tube "tekst having fun", copy and paste as new layer in working canvas. Place as shown.
If you have resized your tag previously, it helps to resize the rest of the parts you add from now on.
I resized this tube to 70% smart size for a tag that I have reduced to
500 pixels wide and 80% for a 600 width size. |
22. Copy the tube "tagshavingfun" and paste as new layer (you'll add the text later)
(for the 500 width tag I resized these to 60%, for 600 width 70%)
Image>Rotate>Free rotate 20 degrees left, all layers not checked
put that left beside the "H" of Having Fun
Drop Shadow: 1-0-60-10, color #7a5c5c
 |
23. Duplicate layer, Image>Mirror, all layers not checked
Place both tags so that they fall just beside the first and last characters of "Having Fun"
 |
24. Activate top layer
Merge down
Layers arrange down move |
25. Copy the tube beerfun (the little bear) and move it into the bottom right corner
For the 500 width tag I resized this bear to 60% smart size
For 600 width tag I resized to 70%
Adjust>Sharpness>Sharpen
1-0-60-10, color #7a5c5c
Duplicate layer, Image>Mirror,
 |
26. Add your text.
Text (for 500 width tag): I used Curlz MT, size 24, vector,
stroke width 1, anti-alias to sharp - for 600 width tag I used size 26 font

color: foreground to null (turned off), background to darker color of borders #da8ea5

While it's still in Vector mode, hover over the little bar sticking out on the right till you see double curved arrows, click down and you can turn the text this way. Turn it till the slant of the text matches the tag.

Type Joy on one and Fun on the other

Drop shadow: 1-1-100-1, color #7a5c5c (if you want a shadow, I liked it better without)

 |
| You're done! To save go to File>Export>Jpeg Optimizer. Save at compression rate of about 20. |
l hope you had fun!

Webpage Design Information
This webpage background was
made in PhotoImpact with a tutorial by Deb DeHaven
Sadly, she passed away but her tutorials just came back online, thanks
to PIRCNet.
You can find the tutorial
here.
The font I used for all of the text on the buttons is
BrockScript
The font I used for the "Having Fun" tutorial header is
Curlz MT.
Click on the font name to download the font.
I use PhotoImpact to make all of my headers due to the amazing
3D text it has and the wonderful presets available free online
Most of the presets I use are either the ones that come with PhotoImpact, usually
the Gel ones,
or from Deb's PI Tutorials and More (see below) or
Carol Oyl's site
This is the address to Deb's old pages
http://www.fortunecity.com/skyscraper/millenit/1716/pitutorials/objects/presets/presets1.html
I can't find any links
to her new pages but the presets are still on this page for download.
For more sites to find PI
Presets, take a look at my
Great Beginnings
page.
