For this tutorial you
will need: Corel Paint Shop Pro (or Jasc previous versions) I've done this tutorial in PSP 9 and PSP XI. I believe it can be done in most versions. You may have to look around for the commands but it's likely they are there. Filters and materials needed FM Tile Tools>Blend Emboss, trial version-Blend Emboss is one of 7 that keeps working after trial ends Xero>Porcelain. It's in set 1 Photo Effex>Scanlines Graphics Plus>Cross Shadow Supplies in zip file here for version 8 and up http://www.ellies-treasures.com/files/tuts/memories-of-a-child-supplies-psp.zip Supplies in zip file here for older psp versions has .psd tubes instead of pspimage. these can be opened in any program. http://www.ellies-treasures.com/files/tuts/memories-of-a-child-supplies-psd.zip The gradient in the psp file is pspgradient. I have read that changing it to jgd will allow it to be used in PSP 7 so that's what I did for the psd supplies folder. I hope it works! My plugin windows may look different from yours as I use Filters Unlimited 2 to manage my plugins. It's available for purchase here: http://www.icnet.de/filters_unlimited/ I am assuming you know the basics of Paint Shop Pro and where the tools can be located. |
| 1. Put the West gradient in your gradient folder and the mask 20/20 in your masks folder |
| 2. Open the picture Cloud-child. Duplicate (Shift-D), close original. This will be your working canvas. |
| 3.Layer palette, right click, New raster layer. Change your foreground color to gradient, click on the color box and in the next window find the west gradient. These settings: linear, angle at 45, repeats at 1, invert checked Using your flood fill tool (paint bucket), fill canvas with this gradient Adjust>Blur>Gaussian blur at 50 In layer palette, change the opacity to 53 |

I find this is a very good substitute. |
| 8. Open the tube mm-mk father'sdaymm Image>Mirror Layers>Load Mask from disk, load mask 20/20 with the same settings as before Right click in layer palette and merge group |
| 9. Resize it 4x at 80% bicubic (this is not the same size as just resizing to 20% all in one step) Copy and paste as new layer Move it to the left just till the man's elbow touches the left edge (see example) Change the blend mode to Luminance (Legacy) Effects>FM tile tools>blend emboss at default settings Effects>Xero>Porcelain, bottom 3 move to 0 |

| 13. If it all looks ok, make raster 3 active, the beach scene layer Click on the eraser tool and set at these settings Circle, size 20, hardness 50, step 10, density 100, thickness 100, rotation 0, opacity 5 Erase the face of the little girl and also the father and children, to clean the background from them, where needed, see example |

| 19. select with your magic wand the 3 pixel border Effects>Graphic Plus>Cross Shadow, top 6 on 50, bottom two on 128 (default setting) Now do this with the other light 3 pixel border that's closer to the inside of the frame |
| 20. New raster layer Select all Selections>modify, contract by 25 pixels Fill selection with your West gradient, same settings as in the beginning (this will fill in the whole picture, but don't worry). Keep selected Selections>modify, contract by 3 pixels and hit your delete key. Now the picture will again be visible with a thin gold line halfway in the leather border. Select none |
| 21. Select all Selections>Float Selections>Defloat You will now see marching ants around your gold band you just added. Effects>Photo Effex>Scanlines Select none Effects>Edge Effects>Enhance Blend mode on hard light Drop shadow 1.,1.,100.,1 #644429 repeat with -1, -1, 100.,1 |
| 22. Put your foreground color on nil
and your background color on #d1bc9a Use the font bisque with these settings and type your text on 2 lines, each line separate (see example below) Vector, arrow down, size 22, stroke width 1.0, Bold, centre, anti-alias sharp Original creator used size 30 pixels, I had to use size 22 for the same size text in psp9. In PSP XI, I needed to use the 30 pixel size of text. Blend mode on hard light Give both text lines a drop shadow of 1, 1, 100, 3 color #644429 |
| 23. Make the layer above your background active (the gold edge in the leather border) Take your selection tool, rectangle, feather at 0 Select the piece of the gold band where your second line of text is and then hit delete (see example) |
| 24. New raster layer, watermark and save. |
| Resize if wanted. This will be a hard one to resize, as when you reduce a great deal, the fine lines become thick lines. What I did for my screenshots was, using the zoom tool, I reduced the onscreen size to 50%, then I hit Alt-Print Screen to take a picture, then control-V to copy as a new image. Now crop out your tag. You can even resize it a little more this way, without getting those lines all ugly. LOL I used 50% for the smaller tags, about 450 width. Make sure nothing is covering any part of your tag, such as the layer window, before hitting print screen. The tag is 760X650. You can take it down to 550-600 width without losing the fine lines by just resizing in the normal way. Don't forget to optimize (File>Export>Jpeg Optimizer). I usually optimize at about 20. |
