For this tutorial you
will need: Corel Paint Shop Pro (or Jasc previous versions) I've done this tutorial in PSP 9 and PSP XI. I believe it can be done in most versions. You may have to look around for the commands but it's likely they are there. Filters and materials needed Filters needed Filters Unlimited 2 Simple Filters>Top Left Mirror The scrap kit made by Melissa of Sentimental Style when she was still Heartfelt Scraps (in the supplies folder): http://sentimentalstyle.blogspot.com/ The kit consists of layers, 1 per element. To copy each one, make sure you are on that layer and then control-c to copy. If there is more than one element in a layer, copy the layer, paste as new image and then use your selection tool to select around the one you want and copy then paste into your working canvas. Supplies in zip file here for version 8 and up includes .pspimage tubes http://www.ellies-treasures.com/files/tuts/winterscrap-psp-supplies.zip I've also converted the lace and paper clip pspimage files to psp files, as I couldn't open them in version 9. Supplies in zip file here for older psp versions has .psd tubes instead of pspimage. these can be opened in any program. http://www.ellies-treasures.com/files/tuts/winterscrap-ps-pi-supplies.zip I am assuming you know the basics of Paint Shop Pro and where the tools can be located. |
1. Copy a paper from the HS Scrap Kit_022 (I used the second one from the bottom) and paste as a new image (control-v). You can use either one of the other 2 papers as well. This becomes your working canvas. New raster layer Selection>select all Copy "1016 scenery 34" and paste into selection Select none With your raster deform tool, pull out on both sides (using the little red boxes at the sides) so it looks similar to my example. In the layer palette, put the blend mode on luminance and the opacity on 44
2. Copy the ribbon and lace in the scrapkit and paste as new image Now you can select the ribbon layer with your selection tool and copy You do this for every element you want to use in the scrapkit that are in a layer together. Copy the ribbon and paste as new layer (control-L) on your working canvas Place it at the bottom, past the edge of the canvas, as shown, making sure you can see only the top line of stitching Drop Shadow 0-0-100-5 colors #5980ba (a medium blue) Layers>duplicate Move the new ribbon layer to the top of the canvas
3. Copy the lace and paste as new layer and place it as shown in the example drop shadow 0-0-100-5 colors #5980ba Duplicate layer, Image>flip
4. In the scrap kit, copy the photo frames and paste as new image. Cut out the slanted one, copy it and paste as new layer on your canvas with your raster deform tool, pull it top and bottom to the edges of the ribbon, and on the sides almost to the edges. See example. Apply same drop shadow as in previous step, then repeat the drop shadow
5. Copy the photo mounts and paste as new image Click with your magic wand in the white part, tolerance on 10 Leave it selected
6. Open 1147 blue eyes, Copy the baby and return to your photo mounts Create new raster layer. Paste into selection
7. Adjust>PhotoFix>Digital camera noise removal set at 50-50-50-50-2 If you find the eyes a bit too blurry, with your selection tool, select around the eyes and sharpen twice. Layers>Merge visible Apply the same drop shadow as before, then repeat it Image>Mirror copy and paste on your working canvas as a new layer
8. Copy the white snowflake and paste as a new image. Resize to 80% bicubic. Select the top one with the selection tool and copy it, paste it as a new layer on the canvas and place it as shown at the top left of the mounts Apply the drop shadow 1-1-100-8, color as before (the blue), keep selected Go to Layers>Duplicate, then Image>Mirror, then Image>Flip
9. From the scrapkit, copy the buttons layer and paste as new image. Select one of the small buttons at the top (I used the darker one on the right) and copy it, then put it right in the middle of a snowflake. Apply a drop shadow 0-0-100-5, same blue color. Again duplicate layer then flip it and mirror it Layers>Merge visible
10. Effects>Filters Unlimited 2>edges square - square edge 17 Image>Resize - 85% bicubic, all layers unchecked Apply a drop shadow 1-1-100-3, then repeat with -1, -1, 100, 3
11. Copy the lace (frame-not out of the scrapkit) and paste as new layer Resize 80% bicubic, all layers unchecked Layers>Arrange>send to bottom, or just pull it down in the layer palette If all is in place properly, right click in layer palette and merge visible.
12. Copy the paper clip (not from the scrapkit) - paste as new layer Image>Rotate 40 degrees left, all layers unchecked Move it into place drop shadow 1-1-100-3 color #3c5780 Effects>Simple>top left mirror (this puts the paper clip into all the corners - like magic!)
13. Copy 1 of the tags from the scrapkit Format>Resize 80% bicubic, all layers unchecked Now resize to 80% again. Apply a drop shadow 0-0-100-3 #3c5780, repeat the drop shadow Move it into place
14. Adding the text. Open the font Snowcap size 30, stroke 1, bold Foreground on white, background on #557cb4 Type your text. I typed "Winter". Now apply a drop shadow 1-1-100-1, leave the shadow color at blue.
15. Using the Snowcap font again, size depending on your text (I have mine on 28), type text on the tag. I typed XXX using small x's. Then I typed my name. Merge visible Watermark and save as a gif if you want to retain the transparency or as a jpg if you want to save it on a background or a color.
