I've done this tutorial in PSP 9 and PSP XI.
I believe it can be done in most versions.
You may have to look around for the commands but it's likely
they are there.

I am assuming you know the basics of Paint Shop Pro and where
the tools can be located. |
Here are some arrows and bars you can drag and drop
where you need to mark or underline where you are. .
Just left click and drag to where you want it then let go.
They will stay where you put them until you close your browser.

Here's a small version of the tag that you can drag with you for reference
 |
Preparation
Before opening PSP, double click the font to open it and leave it open
so it will be available for use in PSP (or install it).
This font is a system font so you probably have it installed already.
Put the plugin into your plugin folder.
Now open PSP. Open your tubes in PSP, duplicate them (shift-D) and close the originals.
None of the tubes are used more than once, so each can be closed after use.
You can open the gradient file (cmv-gold) as well and use it as a pattern or you can put it in your gradient folder. |
Step 1
Open a transparent canvas (Ctrl-N) 600x450
Set foreground to color #855223 (medium golden brown) or with the eye dropper select a color from your tube.

Fill your transparent canvas with this color with your flood fill tool |
Step 2
Highlight the scenery tube "CarolaMists_Scenary_468",
copy (control-C) and paste as new layer (control-L)
Place tube slightly higher

Go to Effects>Image Effects>Seamless Tiling, settings:
Check Corner, Bidirectional, Horizontal and Vertical on 0, Transition on 50, Linear

Layer palette, right click, merge visible |
Step 3
Highlight the face tube "wildhaired_redhead1"
copy (control-C) and paste as new layer (control-L), move to the left as shown,
so that the squared off left edge and bottom edge can't be seen

Now copy and paste the chestnuts tube "misted_castagne" and move to the right as shown

Layer palette, right click, merge visible |
Step 4
New raster layer
Activate your tube tool, select the Autumn Leaves supplied with psp, settings:
Size 79, Step 250, Random, Random

Stamp down 8 times with a new raster layer for each so they can be moved around. Position leaves as shown.

For each leaf, go to Adjust>Brightness and Contrast>Settings: Brightness 5, Contrast 10

I also used the color correction command to make one leaf redder and
I used the raster deform tool set to free to manually turn some
and I used the resize>all layers not checked to resize a couple.
I have provided a psp file of the leaves I used already turned, colored, etc if you don't have this tube
Right click in layer palette, merge all (flatten) |
Step 5
Image>Frame>Photo Edges>Edge brush 04

 |
Step 6
Using your Magic wand Tolerance 0 Feather 0

select the frame
Flood fill with the foreground color #855223
Keep selected.

Effects>Cybia>Screenworks>Hollow Dot at default of 0

Leave selected

Layer palette, right click, merge visible
Selections>Invert
Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow, settings: 3-3-50-5-black

Deselect |
Step 7
Activate text tool
In your material palette, switch your foreground color to background
and in the foreground pick gradient and switch to the gold gradient provided

(or if you're using it by opening it in psp, switch foreground to pattern and find the gold pattern, angle at 0, scale at 100).
Settings: Vector-Direction down-Font Black Chancery-Size 72-Stroke width 1

Type "Autumn" or whatever text you choose to type

Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow (click ok when it wants to convert to raster layer), settings as before: 3-3-50-5-black

(Optional) I used my brightness and contrast again at 5-10 (I use this setting and this command a lot)
Make sure all is where you want it and merge visible
(if you want to be able to change the text later, then hide the text layer before merging) |
Step 8
Image>Add border>3 pixels white, symmetric checked

With magic wand select the frame,
Fill the frame with the gold gradient or pattern
Deselect
You're done!

 |
Resizing
To resize, make sure, to retain the texture and the clarity, resize at 90% bicubic and repeat till you get close to the size you want.
At that point you can resize by pixels as usual. You will find this makes a big difference in your final result.
If you resize, use the unsharp mask or Brightness/Contrast to sharpen it a bit.
Adjust>Sharpness>Unsharp mask at Radius 1, strength 60, clipping 4.
or
Adjust>Brightness and Contrast set to Brightness of 5-contrast of 15. |
Watermark
Layers>New raster layer. Add your water mark on this new layer
Layers>Merge>Merge all (flatten) |
Save
File>Export>Jpeg optimizer - compression of 20. |
l hope you had fun!

Webpage Design Information
This webpage background was
made in PhotoImpact with a tutorial by Deb DeHaven
Sadly, she passed away but her tutorials just came back online, thanks
to PIRCNet.
You can find the tutorial
here.
The font I used for all of the text on the buttons is
BrockScript
The font I used for the "Autunno (Autumn)" tutorial header is Black
Chancery, a system font.
(Click on the font names to download the fonts.)
I use PhotoImpact to make all of my headers due to the amazing
3D text it has and the wonderful presets available free online
Most of the presets I use are either the ones that come with PhotoImpact, usually
the Gel ones,
or from Deb's PI Tutorials and More (see below) or
Carol Oyl's site
This is the address to Deb's old pages
http://www.fortunecity.com/skyscraper/millenit/1716/pitutorials/objects/presets/presets1.html
I can't find any links
to her new pages but the presets are still on this page for download.
For more sites to find PI
Presets, take a look at my
Great Beginnings
page.
