For this tutorial you
will need: Jasc or Corel Paint Shop Pro. I've done this tutorial in PSP 9 and PSP XI. I believe it can be done in most versions. You may have to look around for the commands but it's likely they are there. Filters and materials needed No outside filters needed Supplies in zip file here. It contains both pspimage files plus those same files I converted from pspimage files to psp files. It also contains a heart already made in case the preset shape doesn't work for you, and also a pink strip in case the selection file doesn't work for you. http://www.ellies-treasures.com/files/tuts/i-love-shopping-supplies-psp.zip Supplies in zip file here for older versions if the other ones don't work for you. These are in psd format. http://www.ellies-treasures.com/files/tuts/i-love-shopping-supplies-psd.zip |
| Preparation Before opening PSP, double click the font to open it and leave it open so it will be available for use in PSP (or install it) Put the Selection file in your Selections folder and the Preset Shape file in your Preset Shapes folder. (In case selection files and preset shape files don't work for you, I've provided them in psp format, just open them in PSP.) Now open PSP. Open your tubes and papers in PSP, duplicate them (shift-D) and close the originals Some of them are used more than once (paper 1 and paper 2), so leave them open after use. |
| 1. Open a canvas 600x400 white |
2. Change your background color to black and turn off your foreground color. ![]() Find the preset shape Heart7-kris and draw a heart, starting to the left of the centre not quite at the top and making it symmetrical by holding the shift key while you draw it, draw it down to not quite the bottom, as shown. (Or copy and paste the heart I made for you as a new layer on the canvas.) ![]() Objects>Align>Center in Canvas Right click in layer palette on vector layer and convert to raster |
3. With the magic wand, tolerance and feather at 0, select the black part of the outside part of the heart![]() |
4. New raster layer, Edit>copy (or control-C) paper 1 and paste into selection![]() then apply a drop shadow of 0/0/60/20 black ![]() ![]() Deselect |
| 5. Making sure you are back in the original heart layer, select with the magic wand the black part of the middle of the heart. |
| 6. New raster layer, copy paper 2 and paste into selection then apply a drop shadow of 0/0/60/20 black ![]() Now delete the layer with the black heart. |
| 7. Activate the background layer Copy and paste paper 1 as a new layer (control-L) and go to Image>Resize 40%, resize all layers not checked ![]() Apply drop shadow as before. ![]() |
| 8. Copy and paste paper 2 as a new layer (control-L) and go to Image>Resize 30%, resize all layers not checked Image>Free Rotate>left-45 degrees, all layers not checked ![]() ![]() |
| 9. Selections>Load/Save Selection>Load Selection from Disk Find the shopping selection. Source luminance, and replace selection checked. ![]() (or copy and paste as a new layer the pink strip I made for you, you don't have to fill this strip) New raster layer, then copy and paste paper 2 in the selection ![]() Deselect |
10. Duplicate layer, Image>Mirror![]() |
11. Highlight the top layer, then copy and paste the ruban 1 (bow with daisy) in place as shown.![]() |
| 12. Copy and paste ruban 2 (the stitching) as new layer, Image>Rotate>Free Rotate 90 degrees left and place in middle of pink selection band Duplicate this layer and Image/Mirror ![]() |
13. Copy and paste the lady tube as shown![]() |
| 14. Text tool, Vector, a font of your choosing-size depends on font used, stroke width 0, Anti-alias sharp Color background black, foreground turned off (same as for the heart) I used the font Affair 1 (which I've supplied in zip file), size 48 Type the text "I Love Shopping" Image>Rotation>Free Rotate>left-90 Place along the ribbon pink strip on the left side as shown. Go to Objects>Align>Vert. center in canvas Convert to raster layer ![]() |
| 15. Image>Add borders>2 pixels color: #eab6ba (medium pink) Image>Add borders>20 white Image>Add borders>2/color: #eab6ba ![]() You're done! |
|
Resizing To resize, make sure, to retain the texture and the clarity, resize at 90% bicubic and repeat till you get close to the size you want. At that point you can resize by pixels as usual. You will find this makes a big difference in your final result. If you resize, use the unsharp mask or Brightness/Contrast to sharpen it a bit. Adjust>Sharpness>Unsharp mask at Radius 1, strength 60, clipping 4. or Adjust>Brightness and Contrast set to Brightness of 5-contrast of 15. |
|
Watermark Layers>New raster layer. Add your water mark on this new layer Layers>Merge>Merge all (flatten) |
|
Save File>Export>Jpeg optimizer - compression of 20. |
