For this tutorial you
will need: Corel Paint Shop Pro (or Jasc previous versions). I've done this tutorial in PSP 9 and PSP XI. I believe it can be done in most versions. You may have to look around for the commands but it's likely they are there. Filters and materials needed Mehdi>Sorting Tiles FM Tile tools>Blend Emboss Xero>Porcelain Flaming Pear>Transline Penta.com>VTR 2 and Color Dot Graphic Plus>Cross Shadow Supplies in zip file: http://www.ellies-treasures.com/files/tuts/lost-thoughts-psp-material.zip The material has been prepared so that you can open it with different versions of the program. Font: ElegeionScript: http://www.ellies-treasures.com/files/fonts/ElegeionScript.ttf |

Go to Adjust>PhotoFix>Digital Camera Noise Removal at default settings (In PSP XI it's right in the Adjust menu): camera preset not checked/50/50/50/link detail sizes checked/70/0 |

| 10. In layer palette, right click on a layer and merge all (flatten). Go to Effects>Xero>Porcelain, change the bottom 3 lines (red-green-blue) to 0. Settings: 50/128/128/0/0/0 It should look like this now Duplicate this canvas and minimize if you are making the wide border. ****************************** Now we will add either a narrow edge or a wide one. Your choice. Narrow edge is just below, wide edge is below that. |
|
NARROW EDGE BORDER ![]() Make sure your dark color is your background color, Selections-Select All Selections>Modify>Contract with 10, Selections>Invert, Adjust>Blur>Gaussian Blur at 20 Effects>Flaming Pear>Transline Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow: V1 and H1, Opacity 100, Blur 5. WIDE EDGE BORDER![]() 1. Duplicate canvas and minimize duplicate; Image>Add borders>1 pixel #2e1709; Image>Add borders>7 pixels #d0a185 Select border with Magic Wand, tolerance at 0 Effects>Penta.com - VTR 2 default setting: 26/0/169/0. Selections>Select None Image>Add borders>1 pixel #2e1709 2. Maximize duplicated canvas and copy; Image>Add borders>35 pixels white, Select border with Magic Wand, tolerance at 0 Edit>Paste into selection, Adjust>Blur>Gaussian Blur at 20 Effects>Penta.com - Color Dot, default settings: 90/2/255/255/255. Keep selected. 3. Add new raster layer (make sure it's just above the layer you just applied Color Dot to) and fill with color #2e1709 (the dark brown) Effects>Graphic Plus>Cross shadow>default settings: 50/50/50/50/50/50/128/128 Lower layer opacity to 72. Selections>Select None 4. Repeat step 1. Now you can add the text. ![]() |
| ADDING TEXT Change your foreground color to none, and your background color the dark brown used for the frame (#2e1709) The original creator used the font Carattere but it's not shareware so I found one that is very similar and I can share, called ElegeionScript. Size 48, stroke width 0, vector, anti-alias sharp. Type your text. Right click this layer in layer palette and convert to raster layer. Now add a drop shadow: V 1 en H1, Opacity 75, Blur 2. In the layer palette, change the blend mode to Hard Light. If you are going to resize, it's best to do that first and then add the text. Text doesn't always look right when resized ![]() Watermark and save as a jpg or png. Don't forget to optimize. I usually optimize at about 20. Find the jpg optimizer in File>Export>Jpeg optimizer |
