Translated with permission from the creator, Mabel at MissDaisy's tutorial site.

See the original tutorial here for PSP in Spanish.

This version has all of the screenshots but no backgrounds, etc. and a smaller font.

This version is like above but has no screenshots, only a small header at the top for an example.
This will take much less paper. The settings are shown as text instead of screenshots.
They will both open in a
new window and print out on standard 8½" X 11" paper
For information about which
fonts, programs, etc I used to construct my pages and my headers,

includes graphics. gradient and tubes
and a canvas filled with gradient in case you don't want to make
your own gradient.
Please
leave the filenames and previews of the tubes intact.
The creators have worked hard to make them.
I am thankful to those who designed the material used in this
tutorial:
Henri Peter,
Suzy
Sgai Tubes,
Patry, brushes from
Touchstone’s art, etc.

I am assuming you know the basics of Photoshop/Photoshop
Elements and where
the tools can be located.
My filter windows may look different from yours as I use Filters
Unlimited 2 to manage my filters.
A great program! It's Shareware and you can get it
here. |
Here are some arrows and bars you can drag and drop
where you need to mark or underline where you are. .
Just left click and drag to where you want it then let go.
They will stay where you put them until you close your browser.

 |
Put the gradient in your gradient folder. It's called Golden Yellow and Brown gradient (it's really
not yellow and brown, but if I call it anything else, it goes in funny into the gradients or won't go in at all.
This gradient picks up your foreground-background colors and repeats them).
Put the filters in your plugin folder
Open up your images and your tubes. Duplicate the originals, close them
and minimize the duplicates. They are not needed yet. |
1. Open a new transparent image 640X480 pixels (or the gradient canvas if you're using it)
If you use the gradient canvas, skip to step 3 |
2. Make foreground color #b6b9bd and background color #798287

Go to Layer>New Fill layer>Gradient, leave first window at default,

In the next window, pick the Golden Yellow and Brown gradient, set to 90%, angle of 45.

Right click in layer palette and simplify layer in PSE - rasterize layer in PS |
3.Filters>Mura's Meister>Cloud, settings at default
Light, FG and BG checked
100-100-3 and the rest at 0, blend mode, source base not checked

 |
4. Layer>Duplicate layer.
Filters>Mura's Meister>Tone, settings at default
300-50-10-45-0-0 Thru BG/FG checked, FG color grey #b6b9bd

Set blend mode to screen, layer opacity to 40%,

Filters>FM Tile Tools>Blend Emboss at default settings of
-1, -1, .250, 64, 0.938, 0.938, 0.938, edge wrap checked

 |
Note: Copy is Control-A to select, control-C to copy. Always make sure you do Control-A first or it won't copy.
Also make sure you are in the image layer and not the watermark layer when copying. |
5. In layer palette, click on the new layer icon (top of palette in PSE, bottom of palette in PS)
Open and copy (Control-A to select, Control-C to copy) tube “SS_Art14” (Landscape).
Back to working canvas and control-V to paste. With your move tool, move it to the top left
(you will see faint straight lines where this tube's edges are). Go to Image>Resize>Scale
(In PS it's Edit>Transform>Scale), now pull on the bounding boxes while holding down
the control button to resize in proportion, pull it down to the bottom right so it fills the whole canvas.
If it hits the edges at one side or another without filling the whole thing,
just pull on the left, right, top or bottom boxes.

Deselect. Blend mode of hard light, opacity of 70%
 |
6. Copy and paste, your misted image: “lady_dragonfly_c”. Image>Rotate>Flip Layer Horizontal
(In PS it's Edit>Transform>Flip Horizontal). Move to the right and place as shown. Opacity of 70%
 |
7. Copy and paste the misted image: “seven_seas_c”. Move to the left as shown, Opacity of 70%
 |
8. Copy and paste the image Animal03” (horse).
Move a little towards the left and place between the two previous images.
 |
| 9. Hide the two bottom layers by clicking on the eye for each and right click in layer palette and merge visible. |
10. On the merged layer, go to Filters>FM Tile Tools>Blend Emboss at default settings.
 |
11. Layer>Duplicate. Blend mode: overlay, opacity of 30%. Turn bottom layers back on.
 |
|
12. Layer palette, right click, merge all. |
13 Filters>Optik Verve Labs>Virtual Photographer, preset
Radiant, leave at default
Film #1, on/off checked, original checked, film speed of 25,
Filter set to soft, b/w not checked.
Click process to finish.

Copy. |
14. Right click in layer palette and click on layer from
background, now right click on the new layer icon.
Pull this new layer below the other layer. Making sure you are
in the new layer, right click on picture title bar,

click on Canvas Size, change width and height to 60, to add 30
to each side, Relative checked.

Now click on canvas size again and uncheck the "Relative" box
and change the height to 580,
click the top arrow to put all of the extra 40 pixels on the
bottom.

You should now have 30 pixels added to the top, left and right,
and 70 pixels added to the bottom.

Paste your completed picture you copied a few minutes ago in
this new layer.
Click the eye to turn off the top layer and you'll see the newly
pasted image.
Move this to the top left and go to Image>Resize>Scale (In PS
it's Edit>Transform>Scale).
Use the bounding boxes as before to pull this picture so it
completely covers the canvas, just beyond the edges.

Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur-radius of 15. Turn top layer back on.
Make sure you stay in the bottom layer.

 |
15. Filters>Video Rave>Picture chopper, default settings of
229-229-13

Keep selected. |
16. Filter>Penta>Color Dot at default 90-2-255-255-255

Effects>FM Tile Tools>Blend Emboss, default settings.

Deselect. Right click in layer palette and flatten image. |
17. Using your rectangular marquee tool, select around the
inside of the
frame, right at the edges of the graphic, as shown.

Go to Filter>Eye Candy 3.1>Cutout. Change color to #404040 or
RGB of 64-64-64.
Set distance at 2, blur at 5 and opacity at 100. No fill color
or solid fill.

 |
18. Right click on picture title bar, click on Canvas Size,
change width and height to 4, to add 2
to each side, Relative checked. repeat with 2 pixels black, then
4 pixels white again.

Open your silver pattern from the supplies. Go to Edit>Define
pattern and name the new pattern silver. Click ok.

Select this last border with your magic wand. Go to Edit>Fill
Selection>Pattern
(In PS it's Edit>Fill>Pattern), pick the silver pattern, leave
all else at default and click ok to fill border.

Deselect. |
19. Open and copy tube "flores". Back to working canvas, paste.
Place to the right on the frame as shown.
Filter>FM Tile Tools>Blend Emboss at default settings.
 |
20. Open and copy tube "freedomtext". Return to your canvas and
paste. Place as shown.
 |
21. Activate your bottom layer, the background one and add new
layer.
Open your pincelparafreedom tube, copy it, back to your working
canvas, paste it.
It will show up in the center and it's very hard to see and also
very hard to grab with the move tool,
as it's mostly transparent. Make sure you are in this layer and
just click on your move tool and
use your down arrow till you see it. Keep moving it with your
cursor keys till
it's just inside the white edge of the tag at the left bottom.
Use the zoom tool to see what you're doing if you need to.
Right click on layer in palette and duplicate layer.
Place this one at the right side of the tag, mirroring the one
on the left.
Duplicate it again. Place in center.
Make sure these decorative layers are under the freedom text
layer
and the flora layer and are placed with a small gap between the
three brush marks.
(Compare with the finished tag). If they are over the flora and
the freedom text,
just grab those layers in the layer palette and drag them to the
top.
 |
22. Resize tag you want to. If you resize, use unsharp mask
(Adjust>Sharpen>Unsharp Mask,
in PS it's Filter>Sharpen>Unsharp Mask) if needed. Set unsharp
mask at 64/1/4.
I wanted mine a bit brighter, so I went to Enhance>Adjust
Lighting>Brightness and contrast
(In PS it's Image>Adjustments>Brightness and Contrast), and slid
the contrast slider up to +20 |
23 IMPORTANT: in new layer, with a small, legible font place
the copyright to the artist:
©Henri Peter - www.henripeter.com.
(copyright symbol is Alt-0169, hold down the alt key and type
0169 in the number pad while
holding it down. When you let go of the Alt key, the copyright
symbol will appear
Note: not all fonts include the copyright symbol. If it's not
showing up, that's probably why).
I've included the copyright file in psd format for you to use if you like,
instead of making it. |
24. In new layer, place watermark.
Merge all, don't forget to optimize. I normally optimize at
Medium (8)
Your Freedom Tag is done! |

Webpage Design Information
This webpage background was
made in PhotoImpact with a tutorial by Deb DeHaven
Sadly, she passed away but her tutorials just came back online, thanks
to PIRCNet.
You can find the tutorial
here.
The font I used for the text on the buttons is
BrockScript
The font I used for "Translated from Miss Daisy" is
Floralies.
The font I used for the "Freedom" tutorial header is
EDB
Indians.
Click on the font name to download the font.
I use PhotoImpact to make all of my headers due to the amazing
3D text it has and the wonderful presets available free online
Most of the presets I use are either the ones that come with PhotoImpact, usually
the Gel ones,
or from Deb's PI Tutorials and More (see below) or
Carol Oyl's site
This is the address to Deb's old pages
http://www.fortunecity.com/skyscraper/millenit/1716/pitutorials/objects/presets/presets1.html
I can't find any links
to her new pages but the presets are still on this page for download.
For more sites to find PI
Presets, take a look at my
Great Beginnings
page.
