For this tutorial you
will need: Adobe Photoshop Elements OR Adobe Photoshop  Filters and materials needed Virtual Photographer, available free here http://www.optikvervelabs.com/default.asp Supplies in zip file here http://www.ellies-treasures.com/files/tuts/water-ps-material.zip The material has been prepared so that you can open it with different versions of the program. | 1. Add the gradient to your palette: Click on the gradient tool (In PS it will be behind the paint bucket in the toolbar, click on the little arrow to the bottom right of the tool). In the toolbar, click on the dropdown menu showing the gradient.  When that opens, click on the tiny arrow at the top right of it.  Click on load gradients and browse to the new gradient and add it. |
| 2. Open a new canvas 640X480 |
| 3. go to Layer>New Fill Layer>Gradient. In the next window leave all at default and ok (in PS it looks a bit different but leave all at default).  In the next window click on the drop down arrow to choose the gradient then click on Linear, angle 45, scale 100%, align with layer checked then ok   Result will be  |
| 4. Filter>Texture>Texturizer>Canvas with these settings: 65-4-top. In PS and PSE the Texturizer filter is in the native filters, so look in the Texture filters above the line, not in the imported filters. PSE  PS  |
| 5. Open the three images of the children (not the girl with the seashell) and reduce each to 90% (for each one, right click on the canvas title bar, select Image Size, and change to 90%). For each tube, Control-A to select all, then Control-C to copy. Paste (control-V) each of them into the gradient canvas. Each one will paste in a new layer. Distribute as shown.  |
| 6. Copy and paste in new layer the image of the snails. Drop shadow: black, PSE: in layer styles in the palette, drop shadows, double click soft edge to apply, then go to Layer>Layer Style>Style Settings and change angle to 135, size 5, distance 5 and opacity 50.   In PS: go to Layer>Layer Style>Drop Shadow>Change blend to overlay, opacity to 50%, angle 135, 5-5-5, the rest at default  Layers>Merge Visible In layer palette, right click and duplicate layer |
| 7. Make sure you are in the top layer, Go to Effects>OptikVerve> Virtual Photographer: Blue Tone and Softest Light as shown  Reduce opacity of this layer to 46%  Layers>Merge Visible In layer palette, right click and duplicate layer |
8. Activate the bottom layer>Adjust>Blur>Gaussian Blur: 20 pixels |
| 9. Duplicate bottom layer, make sure it is just above the bottom layer. If not, drag it there in layer palette. Effects>Cybia>Screenworks>Hollow Dot at default of 255   Reduce opacity of this layer to 35% (in PS-65%)   Now with bottom layer and second layer selected in the layer palette, right click and merge layers. The result will be a little too dark so in PSE go to Enhance>Adjust Color>Adjust Hue and Saturation. In PS it's Image>Adjustments>Hue Saturation. For both programs, leave it on the master (don't check colorize) and increase the lightness to +15.  Now in PS only (PSE unfortunately does not have this filter), go to Filter>Blur>Box Blur and reduce value to 1. You may have to lighten again after this. Try and match the finished tag shown. I lightened again a further +17.  |
| 10. Make sure you are in the top layer, Control-A, Control-C; In PSE, it's File>New>Image from clipboard. In PS, it's File>New>in the window make sure it says clipboard (it usually does when you copy) In the new canvas, resize image to 80% (right click in the canvas title bar and Image Size) and then right click in the layer palette and flatten image. Now add a white border by right clicking in the title bar>Canvas Size, add 4 pixels to the height and 4 to the width (this should be 516X388 after you've resized) and leave the arrows where they are, color white. Now control-A, control-C (to select and copy), Go back to the original canvas, and in the layer palette, right click and delete the top layer, now Control-V to copy layer in. It will paste into the exact center and should be the top layer.  |
| 11. Leave the top layer selected, In PSE, go to the layer palette and apply the soft edge drop shadow. Then go to Layer>Layer Style>Layer Style settings and change the settings to Angle of 30, size 8, distance 0, opacity 100%, color black.  In PS: go to Layer>Layer Style>Drop Shadow: blend mode multiply, color black, opacity 100, angle 30, distance 0, spread 30, size 5. Leave the rest at default.  See next step for screenshot of how it should look. This one was done in PS. In PSE it will be slightly softer, see the screenshot in next step.  |
| 12. Open and copy (control-A, control-C) the image "Sound of the Sea" (child with snail). Paste into the canvas as a new layer. Move into place as shown.  |
| 13. Open "silvernleader" (metallic adornment). Right click on title bar and Image Size: resize to 90% (right click on the canvas title bar, select Image Size, and change to 90%). Now control-A to select, Control-C to copy, over to original canvas, Control-V to paste. Move to correct location. Leave this layer selected, In PSE, go to Image>Rotate> Free rotate layer about 15 degrees up on the right. In PS go to Edit>Transform>Rotate. Don't forget in both programs to click the checkmark icon to finish. In PSE it's right below the part you're rotating, in PS it's in the toolbar at the top. Add Drop Shadow In PSE in layer palette, soft edge. Then go to Layer>Layer Style>Layer Style settings and change the settings to Angle of 135, size 5, distance 5, opacity 50%. In PS: go to Layer>Layer Style>Drop Shadow>leave blend at multiply, opacity to 50%, angle 135, 5-5-5, the rest at default |
| 14. Open, select all and copy "tarjeta". Paste into canvas. Apply drop shadow as in step 19. Place in correct location. Right click in layer palette, flatten image. |

| 15. Right click in the title bar, Canvas Size, add 2 pixels to the height and 2 to the width to add 1 all around and leave the arrows where they are, color black.  Repeat but add 4 to height and width for 2 all around, color white. Then repeat the 1 pixel black border. Your final size, if sizing your original canvas at 680X480, should be 688X488. |
Your finished tag should look like this. |

Resize if necessary. In the image size window, change the bottom field to Bicubic Sharper. Then go to Filter>Sharpen>Unsharp Mask: 40-5-4. If you didn't use that method to resize, use these values 35-5-4 Watermark in new layer File-Save As-save it at medium (5). |
