For this tutorial you
will need: Jasc or Corel Paint Shop Pro. I've done this tutorial in PSP 9 and PSP XI. I believe it can be done in most versions. You may have to look around for the commands but it's likely they are there. Filters and materials needed Filter Factory Gallery N-Wee Scratches; Cybia-Screen Works Supplies in zip file here. 2 of the tubes are both in psp and pspimage format. The rest are in psp format. http://www.ellies-treasures.com/files/tuts/fantasy-supplies-psp.zip Supplies in zip file here for older versions if the other ones don't work for you. These are in psd format. http://www.ellies-treasures.com/files/tuts/fantasy-supplies-psd.zip *********** Credits: Orchid and Lady by LaManouche, Castle and spiderweb by Marion und Dieter |
| Preparation Before opening PSP, double click the font to open it and leave it open so it will be available for use in PSP (or install it) Put the plugins into your plugin folder. Put the gradients into your gradient folder. Now open PSP. Open your tubes in PSP, duplicate them (shift-D) and close the originals None of the tubes are used more than once, so each can be closed after use. |
| 1. Open a transparent canvas 550 x 400. Change foreground to gradient and find MistyDelilah_CC, Angle 45, repeats 0. Fill the canvas with the gradient. |

Effects>Filters Unlimited 2.0>Filter Factory-Gallery N - Wee Scratches, default value of 255 and ok |
| 3. Selections>Select all (control-A). Selections>modify>contract by 50. New raster layer. Fill the selection with the gradient SN_Archrival gradient angle 45 Leave selected Selections>Modify>Contract by 2 New raster layer Fill the selection with the gradient used in the beginning (MistyDelilah_CC) with angle set at 45, Leave selected Remaining on this layer, go to Adjust>Blur>Gaussian Blur set at 25 Effects>Cybia>Screen Works-Dot Screen at default of 0 and ok. |

| 8. Text Set the material palette to gradient, both background and foreground, and use the 2 gradients used in this tutorial, foreground to SN_Archival and background to MistyDelilah_CC, both set at angle of 45, repeats of 0, linear. Set the text tool to Vector, Pick font of your choice. I used Brock Script. Size 48. Stroke width 1. Antialias sharp. Type your text. I typed the word "Fantasy". Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow (click ok when it wants to convert to raster layer), settings as before: 3-3-50-5-black (Optional) Adjust>Brightness and contrast set at 5-10 (I use this setting and this command a lot) You're done! |
|
Resizing To resize, make sure, to retain the texture and the clarity, resize at 90% bicubic and repeat till you get close to the size you want. At that point you can resize by pixels as usual. You will find this makes a big difference in your final result. If you resize, use the Adjust>Sharpness>Unsharp Mask or Adjust>Brightness/Contrast to sharpen it a bit. Adjust>Sharpness>Unsharp mask at Radius 1, strength 60, clipping 4. or Adjust>Brightness and Contrast set to Brightness of 5-contrast of 15. |
| Watermark: Layers>New raster layer. Add your water mark on this new layer. Layers>Merge>Merge all (flatten) |
| Save: File>Export>Jpeg optimizer - compression of 20. |
