Instructions

Screenshots |
|
1. 1.Open your
graphic, resize it to no larger than 350 on it's largest side.
If you resize, go to Photo>Focus and go up one level, pick the
thumbnail top right. |
|
|
2. Pick a light color
from your graphic for background color. I used #CED6BA (a pale
sage) for my bg color. |
|
3. Go to Effects>Eye
Candy 3.1>Cutout with these settings Direction 315, Distance 0,
Blur 15, Opacity 100, color black.
|
|
|
4. Go to
Adjust>Expand Canvas (referred to by me for the rest of the
tutorial as add border) 2 pixels, check expand sides equally. For
this step throughout the tutorial pick any color that will
contrast with your picture. Select with magic wand set at
similarity 0, select by line (to find the magic wand, click on
the arrow by the standard selection tool, it's in that submenu)
and go to Edit>Fill>Gradient. Click on diagonal style, click on
color box for multiple colors to open the Palette Ramp Editor.
Select a gradient to go with your graphic or you can use gold fill or
you can make the gradient from 2 colors in your graphic. I used Multiple
Colors>Palette 081 for the gradient.

5. Add border 2

Add border, 10 pixels, select w magic wand and fill with
gradient. Leave selected. |
|
|
8.Go to
effects>Andrew's Filters 4>Too many drinks and you can use the
default settings: 10-11-9-72 (default setting). Or if this
doesn't show up too well on your gradient, play with the red,
green and blue sliders till you see a mix of colors that will go
well with your graphic. Leave the Divider setting at 72. (I used
the settings 10-9-15-72). Apply. Select none.
|

 |
9. Add border 2
pixels using the light color you picked from the graphic.
Add border, 20 pixels, select w magic wand and fill with

|
|
13. Go to Effects>VM
Experimental>Guess What and use these settings: 243-136-0-83-0.
If there's too much white in the gradient it will look grey. You
can also fill this selection with a medium color from your
graphic. I used color #5AEA94, an apple green. It will turn
darker after the next effect. Leave selected.
|

 |
|
14. Go to Easy
Palette>Button Gallery>double click on A30. Deselect.
|
 |
|
It should look like
this now.
|
 |
15. Add corners of
choice:
Hint when adding corners, add one and focus (Photo>Focus)/resize
(with the transform tool )
till you like it. When done, right click and duplicate, click on
transform tool, flip horizontal, put in approximate position,
duplicate, flip vertical, move to position, duplicate, flip
horizontal. Now click and select the two top ones, right click,
align>top, do the bottom two, then do the left two and the right
two. They will all align perfectly.
Another hint: when I
come across tubes of corners that are flat-2 dimensional and I
want some dimension, I just open them up in PI, select the
corner and go to my Easy Palette>Button Gallery and double click
on the button thumbnails till I find a style I like for the
corner.
|

 |
|
16. Right click and
merge all. You're finished. Watermark and save as jpg. |
