Top-Bordered Stationery Strip with Edge Mask

For this tutorial you will need:
ULead PhotoImpact - available for purchase here
FM Tile Tools - available for purchase here
My plugin windows may look different from yours as I use Filters Unlimited to manage my plugins. You can purchase it here.
I am assuming you know the basics of PhotoImpact and where the tools can be located.

Instructions

Screenshots

1. Open up the image you would like to use. Duplicate it by hitting control-D and close the original. Resize it if needed, so the height is no more than about 250 pixels. Crop if there is any white (or any other color) border around the image, so the picture will flow seamlessly across the top.

2. Go to Effect>FM Tile Tools>Seamless Tile, use these settings: both border width and stretch control set to the default of .250, vertical unchecked.
It will now look like this. Sometimes the change is hard to see, but it is there and allows the graphic to flow seamlessly.
3. Choose a color from the graphic you would like for your bars, using the eyedropper tool . Click on the Path Drawing Tool , pick the rectangular size in the attribute bar, Mode 3D, and draw a slender bar across the bottom of the graphic. Using the transform tool , set to resize in the attribute bar, stretch out both ends of the bar so it will be seamless when it tiles across. If you like, you can duplicate this bar and using the pick tool, move it just above the first one. Merge all and edit>copy.
7. Open a new canvas, the width of the graphic X 2000 pixels. Choose a color from your graphic with the eyedropper tool , or pick a color you like. Leave it the way it is or apply a texture (click here for my Swiss Dots tutorial that I used for this strip). Paste the copied graphic to the strip and move it to the top, making sure it is in the center. Switch to the pick tool and click on the box, shown at right, in the toolbar, to center it.
8.  Merge all and save as jpg.
You're done! I cropped the bottom out of mine to make it smaller for viewing here. It should be much longer! LOL
