I've done this tutorial in PSP 9 and PSP XI.
I believe it can be done in most versions.
You may have to look around for the commands but it's likely
they are there.

Gradient "This Little Light ET-pastel stripe 3" by myself. .pspimage for newer versions, .jgd for older
versions
(I understand that just changing the extension from .pspimage to
.jgd will make it work for older versions.
If this is not true, use the gradient canvases I have supplied
instead.
There is one for the working canvas, and two for the frame
fills.)
*****************
I am assuming you know the basics of Paint Shop Pro and where
the tools can be located.
This is an extremely easy tutorial and can be done by beginners. |
Here are some arrows and bars you can drag and drop
where you need to mark or underline where you are. .
Just left click and drag to where you want it then let go.
They will stay where you put them until you close your browser.

 |
I would suggest saving the tag at the top of my tut and keeping it open while you work to refer to for placement.
I have included the frames and word art as separate files in case you just want to use mine instead of making your own.
Open your tubes, duplicate (Shift-D), and close the originals. Put the gradient into your gradient folder. |
| 1. Open a new transparent canvas 650X500 |
2. Change material palette foreground color to gradient, click on swatch to pick gradient,
find the gradient "This Little Light ET", angle of 135, repeats of 0. Invert not checked. Linear.

Fill canvas with flood fill tool.

Or use the gradient canvas I have supplied. |
3. Adjust>Blur>Gaussian blur 50%
 |
4. Copy (control-C) - paste as new layer (control-L) baby head "cutie04-Sandi",
place in centre and near the top as shown
 |
5. Xero>Radiance, these settings: 61-76-70-255

 |
6. Xero>Porecelain, these settings: 128-200-140-0-0-255

 |
7. Copy and paste as new layer Teddy Bear Collection, move to bottom right, put blend on soft light

 |
8. Copy and paste as new layer Sleepy Time Bears, move to bottom left.

In layer palette, put blend on soft light
In the layer palette, pull it down to below the baby head, it will end up as layer 2

 |
9. Highlight the top layer of canvas, now copy and paste as new layer
Pastel Ribbon ET across top - move up till the top dark edge is not showing
 |
10. In layer palette, right click and duplicate layer and Image>flip, make sure the bottom dark edge is not showing
 |
11. Text across bottom ribbon.
Baby Font (download it here), size 20, background color #8080C0, foreground color turned off
(click on the O with the line through it). Vector, Direction down, stroke width 1, Bold, Aligned left, Anti-alias sharp

Type text and center it on ribbon.

You can also use the word art tube I've supplied instead of typing on the ribbon. You can colorize it if you like.
I have supplied "This Little Light . . ." repeated, and also "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine"
Merge all (flatten)*
*If you are using my frames, do not merge all, but merge visible.
Click here for the rest of the instructions if you are using my frames instead of making your own. |
If you are making your own frames, continue here
12. Format>Add borders 10 pixels contrasting color, symmetric checked.

Pick with magic wand, tolerance at 0. Fill with same gradient as before. angle of 135, repeats 0, linear
If you are using my gradient fill canvases instead, use "Gradient Canvas 1 for frame filler"
Open it and change your material palette to pattern, click on the color box and in the next window, find this pattern.

Effects>3D Effects>Inner Bevel: Bevel 2, 10, 40, 2, 0, 0, 315, 50, 30, color white

Effects>3D effects>Cutout: 2-2-100-3, color #626B71(dark grey). Deselect.

 |
13. Add borders 10 pixels, fill with same gradient as before, except you change the angle to 45.
This is so you get a different color selection than the frames. Deselect.
If you are using my gradient fill canvases instead, use "Gradient Canvas 2 for frame filler"
 |
14. Same as step 12, gradient angle changed back to 135.
If you are using my gradient fill canvases instead, use "Gradient Canvas 1 for frame filler"
Bevel and cutout as before. The settings should still be the same in your effect windows when you open them.
 |
15. Copy and paste 1 of each color button as new layers and place in the 4 corners.
I placed according to color of the frame. Place shadows on buttons. 1-1-70-5, color #626B71(dark grey)

 |
16. Copy and paste as new layer the "Blue Satin Bow", place upper right.
Effects>3D Effects>Drop shadow - color #626B71 (dark grey), 2-2-50-10,

Adjust>Sharpness>Unsharp Mask, settings: 5-50-4

 |
17. Copy and paste as new layer the Heart charm, move to upper left so the spiral seems to be hanging from the frame.

Click on the eraser brush,
Settings: round, size 10, hardness 100, step 10, density 100, thickness 100, rotation 0 and opacity 100.

Now erase the parts that look like they should be behind the frame. It should only take one click right on top of the spiral part you want erased, maybe a couple to clean up a bit after. Not much effort! LOL

Drop Shadow-1-1-25-5 color black.

With your selection tool, select around the spiral part of the charm.

Go to Adjust>Brightness and contrast, change settings to 18-10.

Select none.

 |
18. Select layer 1, the background one, go to Adjust>Brightness and contrast, change settings to 10-10.
Go to Sharpness>Unsharp mask and set to 4-50-1 if you're not going to resize it.
If you are resizing it, do this step after resizing.
If it's too late, and you've saved it sharpened, then use these settings: 2-50-2, so it won't be over-sharpened.
Your final tag will be 710X560 before resizing.

You're done!
Don't forget to optimize (File>Export>Jpeg Optimizer). I usually optimize at about 20. |
| ALTERNATE METHOD: USING MY SUPPLIED FRAMES |
1. Add borders 30 pixels symmetric with color #dbcdd5. Select with magic wand set at tolerance of 0.
Fill with the gradient but change angle to 45. Adjust>Blur>Gaussian blur, set to 50.
If you are using my gradient fill canvases instead, use
"Gradient Canvas 2 for frame filler" then apply the gaussian blur.

2. Copy Frame 1 and paste as new layer. It should go in exactly the right place. Merge,

3. Now copy and paste as new layer Frame 2. It should fit right around the outer edge. Merge all.

4. Now carry on as in tutorial for adding buttons, bow and charm etc, starting at step 15.
It will look like this when done. Same as the other method but the frame is slightly different.
 |
| You're done!
Don't forget to optimize (File>Export>Jpeg Optimizer). I usually optimize at about 20. |
l hope you had fun!

Webpage Design Information
This webpage background was
made in PhotoImpact with a tutorial by Deb DeHaven
Sadly, she passed away but her tutorials just came back online, thanks
to PIRCNet.
You can find the tutorial
here.
The font I used for all of the text on the buttons is
BrockScript
The font I used for the "This Little Light" tutorial header is
Calvados.
Click on the font name to download the font.
I use PhotoImpact to make all of my headers due to the amazing
3D text it has and the wonderful presets available free online
Most of the presets I use are either the ones that come with PhotoImpact, usually
the Gel ones,
or from Deb's PI Tutorials and More (see below) or
Carol Oyl's site
This is the address to Deb's old pages
http://www.fortunecity.com/skyscraper/millenit/1716/pitutorials/objects/presets/presets1.html
I can't find any links
to her new pages but the presets are still on this page for download.

Presets, take a look at my
