Instructions

Screenshots

1. Select graphic, shift-D to duplicate, close original. Resize if too large, sharpen once if you resize. Open gradient, duplicate, close original, minimize.
2. Open gradient tile, duplicate, close original, resize larger than picture (or it will repeat with a seam), so I resized mine 450X450 in this case, select all, Edit>Copy, Edit>Define pattern, name it, ok
You will have to resize a couple of times throughout the tutorial to keep the gradient pattern larger than the expanding canvas. Just check it after applying each time to make sure you don't see any seams. My final size for the gradient was 600X600. Each time you resize it, Select>All, Edit>Copy and Edit>Define Pattern again.

3. Activate graphic, Image>Canvas size> White, add 10 pixels to image size, ok

4. Select white border with magic wand , Edit>Fill, Pattern, pick the gradient pattern you just made, ok.
5. Filter>NVR Bordermania, pick Raised frame #1, border width 5, ok

It should look like this now.

6. Go to Image>Canvas size> White, add 20 pixels to current image size (which means size of your original graphic plus the 10 you added in step 3, plus the 20 you are adding now), ok.

Note: about expanding the canvas. My original image was 400 X 300, as you expand the canvas you keep adding to the expanded size, my last expansion of 10 the numbers I had to put in were 530 X 430. As long as you are expanding sides equally, don't click on any of the arrows.

Select white with magic wand , Edit>Fill with your gradient pattern

7. repeat steps 3-5
8. Resize grad pattern again, I made it 550X500 this time, you have to keep it larger than picture so it won't tile.

Back to frame. Expand canvas by 25 pixels each side (add 50 pixels to the canvas height and width)

Select white with magic wand, Edit>fill with your grad pattern

9. Go to Filter>Alien Skins Xenofex 2>Classic Mosaic:
these settings: tile size .10, grout width .15, edge sensitivity 50, grout color white, ok

10. Filter>Texture>Texturizer: Canvas, scaling 100%, relief 4, light direction top, invert checked; OK,

11. Repeat step 3-5
12. Repeat step 8-10
13. Repeat step 3-5

14. Repeat step 6

15. Repeat steps 3-5
16. If you want to add corners, add them now. If you have PSP, you can take any tube or psp file, open it in PSP, save it as a psd and they will now open as transparent, layered images in Photoshop. You must use a psd file in Photoshop for the corners, or a transparent gif, psp and tub files will not work unless you convert them first. Select>All, Edit>Copy corner, Edit>Paste onto frame. Sharpen and resize if necessary. Place it in the upper left corner. Right click in layer palette on layer one, duplicate, edit>transform>flip horizontal, move into place; duplicate this layer, edit>transform>flip vertical, move into place; duplicate this layer, edit>transform>flip horizontal, move into place. If needed, you can click on each layer in the layer palette and sharpen each corner.
17. Merge all (flatten), watermark if you wish to, and save as a jpg.
