For this tutorial you will need:
Adobe Photoshop Elements - available for purchase
here
OR
Adobe Photoshop - available for purchase
here
Filters and materials needed
Stylize Filter>Wind - available free
here
Eye Candy 3.1 - available free
here
I am assuming you know the basics of Photoshop/Photoshop
Elements and where
the tools can be located.
This was done in Photoshop Elements 3.0 but can be done in
Photoshop as well |

Instructions
|
Screenshots |
1. Pick a psd file,
or a psp tube, duplicate it by going to Select>All; Edit>Copy;
File>New>Image from Clipboard. Close the original. (if you don't
see this in your version of Photoshop, just go to New>Canvas, it
will automatically be the same size as what's on the clipboard.
Pick transparent, Edit>Paste.). Minimize.
Open new canvas
500 X 1024, white. |
My Palette

|
2. Pick paintbrush,
change the color to a dark color (I used a dark blue) and paint
the right 2/3 in an undulating manner as shown. I make the
outline along the white first and then it's easy to fill it in.
I used about 60-70 px size to do the main part and then changed
to 26 px to smooth out some sharp angles in the waves.
|

|
3.
Filter>Stylize>Wind>from right; I repeated twice using blast
setting and three times using wind setting until I had a number
of nice long horizontal icicles. If you don't see the Stylize
filter, don't get confused like I did. It's in the top part of
the filter menu, not the bottom part.
|

|
4. Now go to Image>Rotate>90 degrees right, so the light color is
at the top.
|

|
5. Go to
Filter>Noise>Add Noise, 15%, monochromatic, uniform.
|

|
6. Open your
tube back up, if you need to resize it, do it now
(Image>Resize>Image Size). Go to Select>All, Edit>Copy, back to
your stat strip, Edit>Paste. It will automatically paste as a
new layer.
With tube layer still selected, go to Filter>Eye Candy 3.1>Drop
Shadow, default values of Direction 315, distance 10, blur 10,
opacity 50, color black.
|

|
|
7. New Canvas, 200 X
1024, fill with same blue as above.
Pick line tool,
weight 10 pix, color white. Holding down shift key to keep it
straight, draw a line straight down the left side of the canvas
as shown. Go to Filter>Stylize>Wind - from right, blast, and
apply as before. A window will come up asking if you want to
simplify the line, say ok and repeat this filter a few times
till you get a slight icicle effect.
Image>Rotate>Rotate Right 90 degrees
|

|
8. If you look in the
layer palette, you will see the line is on it's own layer. Now
left click and drag the line from this window to your stat strip
window and place as desired. I duplicated it once (layer
palette, right click, duplicate) and put it just a hair below
the other one so it looked fuller. Now I clicked on each icicle
bar in turn and applied the simple inner bevel. Layer>Flatten
Image. Your Header is done. Now to do the full stationery.
|

|
9. Create a new
canvas 1024 X 3000, fill with the blue color and Filter>Add
Noise>15%, Uniform, Monochromatic
Back to finished
header, Select>All; Edit>Copy; back to large canvas, Edit>Paste,
pick mover tool and move it up, it will snap into place.

Full stat - cropped
at bottom

To use in Incredimail Letter Creator, open LC, click on the body
tab, click on Image, find this full stationery and for image
position, leave at the default "Left", but where
it says "Top" click on "Center"; your picture will disappear but
don't worry, now click on "Tile" and you will see it in the
correct place. Now the text won't scroll over your header. Change the top
margin to a setting that will put the text a little bit under
the decorative bar. Choose your font, font color, link color.
Click on Footer to add your footer information. I always put the
font name there, as well as a tutorial link and any other
pertinent info, tuber name or artist name if you have it, etc.
To add a link here, just type in the text or add the image,
highlight it and click on the link icon, and add the link info
there. |
