This tutorial will print out on standard 8½" X 11" paper

 Version 1                          Version 2

    Scroll down for more examples

For this tutorial you will need:
ULead PhotoImpact, Adobe Photoshop,
Adobe Photoshop Elements, or Jasc Paint Shop Pro
This tutorial will work in any of these programs.

Filters and Materials needed
Simple filters - Quick Tile; VM Instant Art>Three Cut
My plugin windows may look different from yours as I use Filters Unlimited 2 to manage my plugins

I am assuming you know the basics of your graphics program and where the tools can be located.

Some abbreviations I used: PSP is Paint Shop Pro, PI is PhotoImpact, PS is Photoshop, and PSE is Photoshop Elements.

Let's get started!

1. Open the tube, object or psd file you want to use
Open a new canvas, 300  X 300 pixels and flood fill with the dark color.
2. Go to effects>VM Instant Art>Three Cuts: leave all at default except change rotation to 112
and set the bottom slider to a color you like, or colorize later.

It will look like this now

For the alternate Version 2, change the rotation to 205.

It will look like this now
3. Go to Effects>Simple>Quick Tile

4. PSP: create new raster layer, pick bright or medium color from tile (I used #90003b here)
flood fill, turn opacity down to 80 in the layer palette
You can play with the color fills here to see what you like and play with the opacity as well.
PI: pick a color from your tile, make it your foreground color, go to Edit>Fill and flood fill the tile at about 50, or your choice.
In my purple canvas I didn't need to mute, when I colorized it I lightened it there (see below).
PS: go to Layer>New>Layer, to create your new layer. Pick a color from your tile and use that color to flood fill the new layer.
Go to the layer in the layer palette and turn the opacity down to where you can see the pattern through.
Use your own judgment. I slid mine down to 76%.

4a: Alternately you can colorize.
PSP: Adjust>Hue and Saturation>Colorize
PI go to Hue-Saturation, check the colorize box
PS: Go to Image>Adjustments>Hue and Saturation, check the colorize box, and leave it on preview
PSE: go to Enhance>Adjust Color>Adjust Hue/Saturation, check the colorize box and leave it on preview.
If you choose to colorize you can lighten the color there and don't need to do the muting step as above)
Watermark and you're finished!
