For this tutorial you
will need: Any graphics program that allows 3rd party filters, such as the ones used here. You can even do it in free programs that use filters, such as IrfanView. There are instructions on their home site about adding filters to the program. Filters and materials needed VM Instant Art>Three Cut - available free here (entire set of VM filters) Simple filters, available free here No other materials are needed ***************** My plugin windows may look different from yours as I use Filters Unlimited 2 to manage my plugins - available for purchase here. Some abbreviations I used: PSP is Paint Shop Pro, PI is PhotoImpact, PS is Photoshop, and PSE is Photoshop Elements. |
|
1. Open the tube,
object or psd file you want to use Open a new canvas, 300 X 300 pixels and flood fill with the dark color. |
|
2.
Go to effects>VM Instant Art>Three Cuts: leave all at
default except change rotation to 112
and set the bottom slider to a color you like, or colorize
later. For the alternate Version 2, change the rotation to 205. |
| 3. Go to Effects>Simple>Quick Tile |
|
4. PSP: create
new raster layer, pick bright or medium color from tile (I used #90003b
here) flood fill, turn opacity down to 80 in the layer palette You can play with the color fills here to see what you like and play with the opacity as well. PI: pick a color from your tile, make it your foreground color, go to Edit>Fill and flood fill the tile at about 50, or your choice. In my purple canvas I didn't need to mute, when I colorized it I lightened it there (see below). PS: go to Layer>New>Layer, to create your new layer. Pick a color from your tile and use that color to flood fill the new layer. Go to the layer in the layer palette and turn the opacity down to where you can see the pattern through. Use your own judgment. I slid mine down to 76%. 4a: Alternately you can colorize. PSP: Adjust>Hue and Saturation>Colorize PI go to Hue-Saturation, check the colorize box PS: Go to Image>Adjustments>Hue and Saturation, check the colorize box, and leave it on preview PSE: go to Enhance>Adjust Color>Adjust Hue/Saturation, check the colorize box and leave it on preview. If you choose to colorize you can lighten the color there and don't need to do the muting step as above) Watermark and you're finished! |
| You're done!
Don't forget to optimize PSP: (File>Export>Jpeg Optimizer). I usually optimize at about 20. PI: I usually optimize at about 80 PS and PSE: I usually save at about 8. |
