For this tutorial you will need: Graphics Program: Any graphics program that allows 3rd party filters, such as the ones used here. You can even do it in free programs that use filters, such as IrfanView. There are instructions on their home site about adding filters to the program. Image or Tube: none needed Filters: Alien Skin>Eye Candy 5>Nature - available as 30 day trial and for purchase here Simple>Quick Tile, available free here *************** I am assuming you know the basics of your graphics program and where the tools can be located. Some shortcuts I use are**: PSP-Paint Shop Pro; PS-Photoshop; PSE-Photoshop Elements; PI-PhotoImpact This is an extremely easy tutorial and can be done by beginners.
Here are some arrows and bars you can drag and drop where you need to mark or underline where you are. . Just left click and drag to where you want it then let go. They will stay where you put them until you close your browser.
1. Open a new canvas, 300 X 225 pixels (don't change the dimensions or it won't turn out the same), color of choice. I used white. 2. Go to Effects or Filters, depending on your program>Eye Candy 5: Nature>Corona>Large, Dark Matter. It's not seamless yet
3. Go to Effects or Filters, depending on your program>Simple>Quick Tile. Now it will be seamless.
4. To change the color, use the colorize command. In PSP it's Adjust>Hue and Saturation>Colorize. In PI it's Format>Hue and Saturation and click the radio button that says colorize. In PSE go to Enhance>Adjust Color>Adjust Hue and Saturation and click the Colorize box. In PS go to Image>Adjustments>Hue and Saturation and check the Colorize box.
5. Reduce opacity for a lighter effect In PI go to Edit>Fill, white at 50-75% transparency In PSP, right click in layer palette>new raster layer. Fill with fill tool, white, reduce opacity in layer to 40. In PS-PSE: Layer>New>Layer, then using the Paint Bucket tool, fill with white, go to layer palette and reduce opacity to 40%
Alternate In step 1, after picking Large, Dark Matter, click on the Basic tab and change one or more colors in the slider All I did here was change the one color, the second bottom slider, to red After applying Simple>Quick Tile, I ended up with this The possibilities are endless! Just play with the sliders and see what you come up with!
You're done! Don't forget to optimize PSP: (File>Export>Jpeg Optimizer). I usually optimize at about 20. PI: I usually optimize at about 80 PS and PSE: I usually save at about 8.
