Calendar is a Blinkie Calendar so the lines around the border
are animated.
The arrow isn't in the wallpaper. I added it to indicate
where the animation is.
For information about which
fonts, programs, etc I used to construct my pages and my headers,

This will open in a
new window and print out on standard 8½" X 11" paper

This tutorial is for Windows XP. I don't have anything newer at
the moment so have no idea if it's any different for Vista or
Windows 7.

I've been asked so many times how to put my Blinkie Calendars
on the desktop and I didn't think there was a way, but I just
figured one out!
Here's how you do it. This will work to add animations,
pictures, even web pages to your desktop.
And you can add more than one at a time.
So you can have a calendar and maybe a cute animated figure or
doll, etc there as well.
~*.:*:.*~.:*:.*~.:*:.*~.:*:.*~.:*:.*~.:*:.*~.:*:.*~
Here are some arrows you can drag and drop
where you need to mark your spots.
Just left click and drag to where you want it then let go.
They will stay where you put them until you close your browser.
 |
Go to my Blinkie Calendar page and pick a calendar, then
save it to your hard drive.
Of course you can use whatever
picture or animation you choose. Remember where you saved the picture.
(I suggest to not use a picture still on the web or you may
affect that site's bandwidth
and cause them to pay extra for their web service or shut it
down completely.)
Here is the calendar I used for this tutorial. If you want to
use it, save it to your hard drive.

It's a bit on the large side, so if you want a smaller one, go
check out the
Blinkie Calendar
page. Many of the calendars are smaller.
Besides that, it's probably not November 2006! LOL |
Right click on your desktop, click on properties
 |
In the next window, click on Desktop, then click on Customize
Desktop
 |
Click on the "Web" tab
Click on New
 |
In the next window, click on Browse at the bottom of the window

A window will open to browse to the picture you have saved to
your hard drive,
or an html file, or you can enter a web page address from the
Internet.
For our purposes, I am adding an animation to the desktop (one
of my animated Blinkie Calendars)
I'm pretty sure if you link to a picture still on the web, it
will affect their bandwidth
so it's best to save the picture to your hard drive and use it
from there.
Double click on the picture you want to add or highlight it and
click on open. |
You'll see the location of your file in the Location window.
Now click on ok
 |
As you see, your
animation is now in the list to pick from.
Make sure the box is checked and click on ok, then ok again in
the next window.
If you have more than one file there and want to add them all to
your desktop,
just check the boxes of the ones you want to add.
So if you have a number of things you want to switch around on
the desktop,
just add them all here in advance, and if you want to change the
picture on your desktop,
just uncheck the box of the one or ones you have on the desktop
and check the box of the one or ones you want to switch to.
 |
Click on your animation, you'll see a pale frame surrounding the
picture.
Now hover over the picture.
This title bar will appear at the top.
To move it, just left click on the title bar and drag, and you
can drag it to where you want it.
It's still transparent and you can see the wallpaper through the
transparent parts.
 |
|
I hope you enjoy the
results! I
was so glad to figure this out, now I can put my animated
calendars on my desktop. |

this will save the pictures with the page in one single file and
will open in a browser)

Webpage Design Information
This webpage background was
made in
PhotoImpact with a tutorial by Deb DeHaven
Sadly, she passed away and her site is gone.
The font I used for the lace headers is BrockScript and you can get it
by clicking
here
The font I used for the tutorial header is
Baldur.
Click on the font names to download the font.
I use PhotoImpact to make all of my headers due to the amazing
3D text it has and the wonderful presets available free online
Most of the presets I use are either the ones that come with PhotoImpact, usually
the Gel ones,
or from Deb's PI Tutorials and More (see below) or
Carol Oyl's site
This is the address to Deb's old pages
http://www.fortunecity.com/skyscraper/millenit/1716/pitutorials/objects/presets/presets1.html
I can't find any links
to her new pages but the presets are still on this page for download.
For more sites to find PI
Presets, take a look at my
Great Beginnings
page.
