For this tutorial you
will need: Graphics Program: Any graphics program that allows 3rd party filters, such as the ones used here. You can even do it in free programs that use filters, such as IrfanView. There are instructions on their home site about adding filters to the program. Filters: Graphics Plus>Cross shadow *Kang 3>Liquid You Too *Note: I am hearing that Kang filters freeze up PSP8 & 9, but they work fine if you use them in Filters Unlimited 2 (see just below) Simple filters>Quick Tile ***************** My plugin windows may look different than yours as I use Filters Unlimited 2 to manage my plugins. ***************** I am assuming you know the basics of your graphics program and where the tools can be located.  Some shortcuts I use are: PSP-Paint Shop Pro; PS-Photoshop; PSE-Photoshop Elements; PI-PhotoImpact This is an extremely easy tutorial and can be done by beginners. |

1. Open new canvas,
200 X 200. Flood fill with gradient of choice. A nice choice is often from foreground-background, with these colors picked from your graphic; make sure the difference between the colors isn't too great. Make the angle and the repeats 0. Pick linear style. The gradient is now horizontal.  |
2. Go to
Effects>Graphics Plus>Cross Shadow and apply at default
settings. |

Go to Effects>Kang 3>liquid you Too, default settings: 0/81/203/168/125/138  |

Go to Effects>Simple>Quick Tile. |

reduce opacity to make it all blend like silk; use a light color from the gradient to flood fill with. In PI go to Edit>Fill, at 50% or higher transparency. Play with it to find transparency you prefer. In PSP, right click in layer palette>new raster layer. Fill with fill tool, reduce opacity in layer to transparency you prefer. In PS-PSE: Layer>New>Layer, then using the Paint Bucket tool, flood fill, go to the layer palette and reduce opacity. Play with it to find transparency you prefer. A good number to start with is 50, see if you like it, if not play with it till you get it looking the way you like it. Here is mine with reduced opacity.  |

Don't forget to optimize PSP: (File>Export>Jpeg Optimizer). I usually optimize at about 10. PI: I usually optimize at about 90 PS and PSE: I usually save at about 8. |
