Starburst Tile


     
 

For this tutorial you will need:
ULead PhotoImpact - available for purchase here
or
Adobe Photoshop - available for purchase here
or
Jasc Paint Shop Pro - available for purchase here
This tutorial will work in any of these programs.

Filters needed
Two Moon Filters - available free here - look in the list of materials on this page for the link
Simple Filters - available free here

I am assuming you know the basics of your graphics program and where the tools can be located.
 


Instructions

1. Open canvas 200 X 200, pick two colors from your graphic or of your own choosing to make gradient, fill tile with the gradient, diagonal, from upper left to lower right (in PSP 45 degree angle, 0 repeats; in PI pick either diagonal button). To learn how to apply a gradient in Photoshop, click here.

 

 

 

2. Go to Effects (Filters)>Two Moon>RotoBlade, set at default of 53-128-128-128. Apply.

 

 

 

 

 

 



 
It should look like this now.

 

 

 

 

3. Go to Effects>Simple>Quick Tile and apply. It should look like this now.
You can stop here or you can go to step 4.

 

 

 

4. You can reduce opacity for a lighter effect
In PI go to Edit>Fill, white at 50-75% transparency
In PSP, right click in layer palette>new raster layer. Fill with fill tool, white, reduce opacity in layer to 40.
In Photoshop: Layer>New>Layer, then using the Paint Bucket tool, fill with white, go to the layer palette and reduce opacity to 40%
