For this tutorial you will
need: Any graphics program that allows 3rd party filters. Commonly any version of Paint Shop Pro, PhotoImpact, Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Gimp, etc You can even do it in free programs that use filters, such as IrfanView. There are instructions on their home site about adding filters to the program. Filters and materials needed No outside filters needed Scrap Kit used is "Be Mine" kit and is by Lilybelle Scraps http://lilybellscraps.blogspot.com/search/label/Be Mine Go to her blog and look in the right hand column for "Be Mine" under Labels I've unzipped them all together so not sure about some, but I know you need elements 3 and 4 and Errors-Omissions-Additions I don't see the outside heart frame with Be Mine in the previews but I think it's from the Errors and Omissions folder. Supplies in zip file here: http://www.ellies-treasures.com/files/tuts/to-love-supplies.zip . They are in psd format and can be used in any program. Supplies are the rose tube and the copyright for the scrapkit on a layer I left the rose and leaves in layers so they can be colorized I made the rose from this tutorial: http://pspbuddies.com/pspTutor/Gibbs/Pretty-Rose/index.html (tut now seems to be gone) |
| 1. Create a new canvas 600X630, transparent. I'm showing it on a white background here for clarity. |
|
2. Activate png file "fburnettBEMINE-STICKERFRAME2.png" |
| 3. Active rose tube, merge into single layer if needed (in PI, merge as single object), then copy and paste as new layer, position at bottom point of heart as shown |
|
4. Activate png file "fburnettBEMINE-WORDART8S.png". |
| 5. Activate png file "fburnettBEMINE-ROSERIBBONCLUSTER.png". Resize to width of 130, keep aspect ratio, resize all layers not checked. Copy and paste as new layer into canvas. Position at top left of heart as shown. |
| 6. Activate png file "fburnettBEMINE-FOCUSFRAME1.png". Resize to width of 600, keep aspect ratio, resize all layers not checked. Copy and paste as new layer into canvas. It should automatically go at the outside of the canvas to enclose all you've done so far, if not, move it there. I didn't like the little curl of rose stem sticking out on the right of this frame so, making sure I was on the rose layer, I erased the part sticking out. |
| 7. Activate psd file copyright Lilybelle and add it to your tag. |
|
If you want to save as a gif, delete the layer with the white background, if you have one. In PI, go to View>Base Image to put it on a transparent background. |
| You're done. If you reduce the size, make sure you use your unsharp mask at Radius 1-Amount 64%-Threshold 4. |
|
Save PSP: File>Export>Gif optimizer On the Transparency tab, select Existing image or layer transparency On the Partial Transparency tab, select Use full transparency for pixels below 5% opacity, and Yes, blend with the background color and in the color swatch, pick the closest color to the background your tag will be used on. Many people have more success saving gifs in Animation Shop but I haven't tried that. PI: Web>Image Optimizer>click on Gif tab, then Mask options tab, click the drop down arrow next to Matte, pick either a color (pick the closest color to the background your tag will be used on) or your background image (browse to it then click "open"), now Save As, give it a name and save. PS/PSE: File>Save for web. Where it says Matte, pick the closest color to the background your tag will be used on. Now save. For any of the programs. There is an option to not pick any matte color, but to use transparent instead. I have always found it to save very poorly without a matte, with lots of ragged edges, and it was the biggest problems with my gifs for many years. |
