For this tutorial you will need:
ULead PhotoImpact, Adobe Photoshop,
Adobe Photoshop Elements, or
Jasc Paint Shop Pro
This tutorial will work in any of these programs.
Filters and Materials needed
Simple filters - Quick Tile; Sinedot II filter
A tube, object or psd file
My preset for Sinedots II
(unzip and put into Sinedots II folder in your plugins folder)
My plugin windows may look different from yours as I use Filters
Unlimited 2 to manage my plugins
I am assuming you know the basics of your graphics program and where
the tools can be located.
Some abbreviations I used: PSP is Paint Shop Pro, PI is
PhotoImpact, PS is Photoshop, and PSE is Photoshop Elements. |
|
Let's get started! Very easy. |
1. Open the tube,
object (PI) or PSD file (Adobe) that you want to use,
2. Pick a color from it that you want your background to be
3. Create a new canvas, 1280 X 300 pixels
and flood fill with the dark color. |
2.
Go to
effects (or filters) Dragonfly>Sinedot II, set as screenshot
shows
or pick the preset I have made for you

(in PS and PSE it would not work in the default screen blend
(see just above the color bar).
I used max weight and it seemed
the best of the blends available for PS and PSE).
To change the
color, just left click on the color box and a color picker will
open.
 |
3. Go to Effects (or
Filters)>Simple>Quick Tile
 |
4. Basic step: Open tube, object
or psd file, resize to 280 height,
copy and paste into stationery strip, lower transparency in
layer palette
PSP: Edit>Copy, to your stationery strip, Edit>Paste as new
layer, turn transparency down to 66
PI: Edit>Copy to your stationery strip, Edit>Paste as object,
turn transparency down to 50
PS and PSE: Select>All, Edit>Copy, to your stationery strip,
Edit>Paste (PS, PSE) into the stat strip;
move to the left border, in layer palette, turn transparency
down to 66(PS) or 36 (PSE)
These numbers are a guide only, apply transparency at the level
that looks right to you,
with the background slightly showing through the tube
 |
5. Basic step: Duplicate layer, mirror it, move to right
side, lower transparency and merge all
PSP: Duplicate layer, go to Image>Mirror, (it will have
placed itself near the right edge)
and turn opacity down to 26
PI: Duplicate layer, using transform tool, click on the
rotate horizontally icon in the toolbar,
move this image to the right side, turn this layer opacity down
to 89
PS: right click and duplicate layer in layer palette, go
to Edit>Transform>Flip Horizontally,
in layer palette, move to right side, turn opacity down to 26;
PSE: duplicate layer, go to Image>Rotate>Flip Layer
Horizontally, move to the right edge,
in layer palette, turn opacity down to 10
These numbers are a guide only, apply transparency at the level
that looks right to you,
with the background showing through the tube a lot, so it's like
a light reflection
Merge all or flatten image, watermark and you're done!
